Below you can see some photos sent to us showing how Blakey’s have been fixed to the heels of ladies boots and shoes

and now some mens shoes featuring No. 8 and No. 5 Blakey Segs

Here are some images showing how to attach the segs:
Here one of our customers has attached 3R’s in his kitchen

and here, someone has used his neighbour’s fence post

Of course, a LAST
is the best, but as you can see from the above, a bit of ingenuity and imagination, is all that is required.
Our customer, Frank, sent these photos and explains:
“Blakey no.8 segs are the largest heel tips which do not require separate fastenings. these pictures are of a very old pair of boots which are still going strong; they have worn through many sets of heel tips. after many such replacements the holes become enlarged and will no longer retain the tips. they can be installed in a slightly different place, but this can only be done once. a more permanent solution is to plug the holes with matchsticks before hammering the tips home; the matchsticks can be replaced to retighten the grip periodically. the pictures show evidence of these tactics. one can usually sense when a heel tip pulls out when walking; inevitably this happens sometimes on rough surfaces. however it may be worth a periodic check to see if a heel tip has been lost. the more often the check, the less distance to go back and find the lost tip.” |
